LA SCOPERTA DELLA TOMBA DEL CERBERO. RISULTATI PRELIMINARI DELLO SCAVO E IPOTESI DI RESTAURO

On 4 October 2023, a chamber tomb, in a perfect state of conservation and visibly inviolate, was discovered in the cultivated fields of the Municipality of Giugliano, during the works of «Completion and adaptation of the water supply system of the Flegreo Domitiana area» by Acqua Campania S.p.A. During the preliminary archaeological investigations, prescribed by the ABAP Superintendence for the Metropolitan Area of Naples, visual reconnaissance was carried out which led to the recognition of material from the historical era dispersed on the surface and the positioning of an excavation test, precisely in correspondence with an area full of burials with different rites, both inhumation and incineration, evidence of the long use of the site for funerary purposes, having multiple levels of attendance, over a chronological span of at least four centuries, from the Republican to the Roman imperial age.
