Protection of the historical bell heritage is a theme that is too often interpreted as only artistic or musicological competence. However, it is a much more complex theme of protection that concerns both material and immaterial aspects, relating to different and multiple skills (architect, historian of art, demo-ethno-anthropologist, historian, musicologist, etc.). From the experience of the ABAP Superintendency of Bologna with the five Bell Associations in the area of ​​competence, in 2019, a completely innovative process of coordinated protection and in-depth study of the topic was born also on a theoretical and methodological level, up to the writing of shared guidelines for of the bell heritage.
